The WGSN Global Fashion Awards recognise the most innovative and inspirational brands, retailers and manufacturers – so we’re delighted that we’ve been nominated in the Outstanding Collaboration/Collaborator category for our collaboration with iconic designer Barbara Hulanicki.

Barbara's sketches of her collections

Barbara Hulanicki founded fashion brand Biba in the 1960s and her first collection for George hit stores in November 2010. Her fourth collection is now available in store and online at George.com.

She not only designs the ranges and her signature prints but also visits the factories where her clothes are made so that she can work with the pattern cutters and make sure that each collection matches her vision.

Barbara HulanickiBarbara says: “I have always felt passionate that fashion should be for all, no matter what your budget, so to be able to produce high quality design and shapes at such good quality that are so affordable is wonderful. My collections for George reflect all of my favourite silhouettes, prints and signature wardrobe essentials!”

The finalists in each of the categories – which include Global Brand/Retailer, Breakthrough Designer, Most Sustainable Brand/Retailer and Most Innovative Marketing Campaign – will now be decided by a panel of judges and the overall winners will be announced on 20th October 2011 in New York.
